This one of a kind hand turned bud vase has been carefully turned, with the grain and natural beauty of the wood being enhanced by the natural Shellawax finish.
Laburnum wood, known scientifically as Laburnum anagyroides or Laburnum alpinum, is a distinguished hardwood originating from the regions of Southern Europe, particularly around the Mediterranean and extending into parts of Central Europe. This unique wood is renowned for its striking appearance, featuring a rich, dark brown to almost black heartwood contrasted by a lighter yellow sapwood. The fine, often wavy grain and natural lustre of Laburnum wood make it highly prized among woodworkers and artisans.
Heartwood color ranges from an orangish brown to a darker violet brown, darkening with age. Laburnum’s dark color make it suitable for use as an ebony substitute, particularly within its natural range in Europe.
