Brazilian Mahogany, from a luxurious old staircase in Victoria. Very rare and not able to buy or import any more because of the impact on the environment in south America, so we must preserve as much as possible.

Known as “Genuine Mahogany,” Swietenia Macrophylla, its scientific name, is what most in the exotic lumber industry consider to be the true species when referring to “Mahogany.”The piece has two original screw holes located towards the end, on one surface only. If cut off it would be 303mm long.

Its color can range from a pale pink to a light to medium reddish-brown, and it is renowned for its chatoyance. Grains vary; although generally straight, they can be interlocked, irregular or wavy, also. Its texture is fine and uniform, with a rich natural lustre.

Timber is sourced from sustainable forests, recycled sources or trees that have fallen and all Timbers have been seasoned naturally.

We can source other Blanks, Timbers and sizes if required, so please contact me if you require any further assistance.
